Predator and Prey Skull Rattle.

I created this rattle as a tribute to the symbiotic relationship of predator and prey. I started with an absolutely stunning Alaskan gray wolf skull obtained from a subsistence hunter; the dowel handle is wrapped in a pale wolf leg skin with paw and claws. At the “neck” of the rattle are a series of leather straps with deer hooves/dewclaws stitched to the ends of them. The rattle works best when gently shaken side to side, which allows both the hooves, and the stones in the brain casing, to make a lovely rattling sound. The skull is painted with a variety of abstract designs representing deer and packs of wolves; the wolves are in black, the deer in brown.
