2 May, 2008 - Calls for Writers have been updated!

Here are the newest additions to Lupa's creative collection!

29 June, 2008

Bone knife with deer skull stand - I made a bone knife with a cow bone blade and deer leg handle. The handle is painted with gree, copper, gold and brown acrylics, and wrapped with reddish-brown deerskin and glass pony beads; it measures 14" long fron tip to pommel. A five point whitetail deer skull serves as the stand, painted in the same colors, with mottled gold and copper on the antlers. He is 10" wide x 11" long x 10 1/2" tall. Stands better on a hard surface rather than carpet. $100 for the set (sold as set only).

Arctic fox mask/tail dance set - I started with a smoky grey Arctic fox mask and tail and made them into a dance set. The mask (headdress, really, as it's too small for human faces) is just under 8" across and ties with black deerskin strings. The tail is 11" long and is on a 44" black deerskin belt; the back portion of the belt has a silver design with a pawprint painted on it. $30/set.

New tarot/etc card bookmarks - Made from cards from incomplete decks, these are fun bookmarks for your favorite bibliophile! From the Shaman's Wisdom deck: Obsidian, Turquoise. Basswood, Oak. From the odd red/green tarot deck that uses Rider-Waite imagery but also playing card marks: Death on one side, Ace of Cups on the other. $3.00 each.

Fisher necklace pouch - I made a 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" foldover necklace pouch out of a few scraps of fisher fur, including a leg and paw with a single claw left on it. It has an 18" necklace cord (single cord, not two cords that are 18" long). $4.50

Fisher tail/necklace dance set - I took a tail and leg skin from the same dark brown fisher pelt and made them into a dance set. The tail is 8" long and is on a 47" black deerskin belt. The leg skin on the necklace is about 9" long and still has claws. It has black deerskin 16" necklace strings. $20/set.

Lynx paw/deerskin/bobcat claw pouch - I made a 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" pouch out of red-brown velvety deerskin and added two bobcat claws to the front. The foldover flap is a 6' long lynx paw; the claws appear to have been removed. It has a 34" braided deerskin cord; it may be carried, or worn about the neck. $20.00

Otter dance tail - I put an 18" long otter tail on an 80" long black deerskin belt. The spirit in this tail, not surprisingly, is quite spunky and ready to go to a new home RIGHT NOW! (or so he says!). $25.00

Raccoon mask/tail dance set - The mask on this set is missing the nose, but is no less ready for dancing! It measures 6" across and has leather strings to tie it on over the head (too small to be a true mask for a human). The tail is 10 1/2" long and on a 57" long braided leather belt; the back piece of the belt has brown painted pawprints on it. $25.00/set.

Silver fox dance tail - This lovely, fluffy black and silver fox tail is 20" long and has a wonderful white tip. It's on a 72" long black deerskin belt with silver designs on the back piece. $25.00

Canine wall hanging - The frame for this 3" diameter wall hanging is actually the core for an old costume bracelet whose old wrapping unravelled. I wrapped it with deerskin and stretched another piece of deerskin across it. I then painted a wolfish canine on it in brown acrylics paint. Has a small loop for hanging on the wall. $5.00

Tree necklace pouch - I love how the design on this little green leather necklace pouch turned out. I painted an evergreen tree, including the roots. I then used gold, silver and copper paint to show how the tree draws nutrients from the earth, water from the rain, and sunlight from the sky. The design has been sealed with Mod Podge so it'll last longer. $6.00

Brass bracelet - In a former life, this brass cuff bracelet had a rather tacky piece of faux leopardskin fur pasted to it. I removed it, and replaced it with a piece of deerskin adorned with a scrap of bone and two coyote claws. The inner curve measures 5 3/4" around (not a full circle), so better for smaller wrists. $12.00

Deerskin necklace pouch - 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" creme deerskin necklace pouch. Has bone beads and feathers from pheasant and some sort of hen as adornment, and 16" necklace strings. $6.00

Rabbit pouch - I started with a scrap of white rabbit fur from a coat and made it into a 4" x 3" foldover pouch. The flap has a green glass bead and braided yarn tassels, and the necklace string is braided green/brown/yellow yarn, 42" long. $6.00

Cat necklace - The pendant for this necklace is handmade enameled ceramic (not made by me), 1 7/8" wide, of a cat's face--the picture doesn't do it justice! I strung it on a 22" glass/resin/metal bead necklace. Probably one of my favorite pieces ever! $22.00

Painted bone coyote necklace - This is an odd one! I had been looking at this piece of bone I'd made into a pendant, and Coyote gave me the idea for the design. The bone was pre-engraved with diagonal lines across it. In half the spaces I painted a coyote face looking in one direction, and in the other half the tail as if the coyote were standing in the other! It's a bit of an optical illusion, as well as a fun visual joke. The picture doesn't really capture some of the subtleties in the painting. The pendant is just over 2" long, and strung on a 26" coconut heishi and bone bead necklace. $30.00

Deerskin necklace pouch - Just a plain, no frills necklace pouch made of creme deerskin--leave it as-is, or decorate it as you like! 2 1/2" x 3" with 14" necklace strings. $3.50

Triple pentacle necklace - I took three 1/2" pewter pentacle pendants and strung them on an 18" necklace. The beaded portion is made with black, red and white glass beads for the three aspects of the Goddess in wicca-derived neopagan lore, and the rest is black satin cord. $13.00

Ceramic solar pentacle necklace - I took a 1" handmade (not by me) ceramic pendant with a pentacle on one side and a sun on the other. I painted it with a black background, and then metallic copper and gold, and sealed with with Mod Podge to protect the paint. It's strung on a 27" necklace with black seed, carnelian, and goldtone metal beads. $12.00

Corvid wall hanging - I wrapped a 7" metal hoop with black deerskin, then suspended another piece of black deerskin in the center with black satin cord. I painted a raven (or crow) on the deerskin. I added two silver braided thread dangles on the bottom, with 1 3/8" handpainted bone feathers (silver on black, painted by me). $15.00

Crescent necklace - This necklace centers on a handmade (not by me) red claty crescent moon with beaded dangles, 1 5/8" across. It's strung on a 25" necklace made with clay, wood and shell beads. A one of a kind piece! $16.00

Seahorse necklace - I painted a 2" long piece of shell with a seahorse, then strung it on a 21" necklace of blue and green seed beads and blue and white glass beads. $14.00

T-rex necklace - Dinosaur! I got this nifty little T-rex pendant in a barter, and had to make a necklace out of her. The pendant is 3-D and about 3/4" long, and strung with some agate, pewter and fossil bone beads. The rest of the necklace is black cloth cord. The cord is 46" long, but you can trim it to whatever length you like. $12.00

Coyote necklace - I took a shiny pewter pendant with a faux turquoise inlay, attached it to another silver pendant with a real chunk of turquoise, then hung them both on a 27" long necklace made with black glass, pewter, and turquoise beads. The pendant has a howling coyote on it, and is much shinier than the picture shows. $28.00
